Oakland residents’ trust seems to lie most with citywide elected officials. In the Conduit’s recent Survey Monkey poll, residents were asked, “Which Oakland elected official do you trust the most?”
Here is what readers said:
Mayor Libby Schaaf and Congresswoman Barbara Lee tied as the most-trusted elected officials in Oakland. Councilmember-at-Large Rebecca Kaplan came in second place.
It’s not uncommon for the elected officials with the largest voter pools to be the most recognizable. Mayors and Congressmembers, after all, have to make a greater effort to be known than city council members. Many people could have selected Mayor Schaaf and Congresswoman Barbara Lee as their choices simply because they were the only names they recognized in the survey.
Still, these two politicians should be thrilled in the trust their voters have placed in them.
