Update on the Downtown Specific Plan

The Oakland Conduit received this communication from the City of Oakland:

Downtown Oakland Specific Plan - Neighborhood Design Sessions

Happy New Year from the City of Oakland! Please save the dates for a series of hands-on neighborhood design sessions to move us closer to a draft specific plan for downtown Oakland.

The City has reviewed all the community input from the four Social Equity Working Group meetings this past summer. Those discussions helped us understand how social equity interacts with all the other issues the specific plan will address, including development, infrastructure and housing.

In February, we'll take the issues and ideas that you have raised and apply them to specific downtown neighborhoods. Please save the following dates (locations to be announced):

Saturday, 2/10 – Central Core @ 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Saturday, 2/10 – Uptown & KONO @ 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Sunday, 2/11 – Old Oakland @ 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Tuesday, 2/13 – Chinatown @ 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM

These sessions will put the pencil in your hands as you show us where the problem areas and opportunity sites are in your neighborhood. Following a hands-on and discussion-based format, these meetings will focus on the issues and potential strategies that are specific to your community.

Help design the vision for the future of your neighborhood!

Please RSVP here.
