OAKLAND SCHOOL BOARD
While the Oakland Unified School District remains in financial dire straits, its uncertain future failed to attract many candidates to the three open seats this November.
District 2 school Boardmember Aimee Eng and District 6 Boardmember Shanthi Gonzales will run unopposed this fall. Meanwhile, after District 4 Boardmember Nina Senn did not seek re-election, just two candidates emerged. Clarissa Doutherd, a parent and executive director of Parent Voices Oakland is joined in the race by former appointed Oakland Superintendent of Schools Gary Yee, who served from 2013-14.
The auditor's race this fall will match the last two holders of that office. City Auditor Brenda Roberts won the seat four years ago after Courtney Ruby did not seek re-election to the seat and, instead, ran for Oakland mayor.
